When you let go of the old,
you make room for the new.
Cheryl Richardson
Far too often we get bogged down with preconceived notions about writing and we get stuck. What's worse is that we don't even know that we are stuck.
Thoughts that we don't need an editor, opinions on self-publishing, waiting forever for a specific agent, fear of shifting from third person to first... we all have attitudes and opinions that might be holding us back.

If something isn't working... evaluate and fix it.
Resources are numerous. Support systems everywhere. If you could let go of something today to make room for the new, what would that be?
Dedicate today by letting go of one thing, and open your heart, your mind, and the door to your future... Opportunity will come knocking.

Wonderfully inspiring Karlene, I love it! I'm letting go of the last of my fears over publishing independently. Everyone has shown me such amazing support that it brings me to tears, in a good way. I release my fears and embrace my future!
ReplyDeleteI love this post Karlene....
ReplyDeleteI think many of hold onto things from the past. How can we not? We know what it was like then, but the future? Will there be one for us in writing? YES! But you are so right to let go and move forward.
I will let go of the rejections and move forward to query again. The future does hold many possibilities Let's ride the winds together!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Michael
I love that this post is about doing something, and not just wallowing in self-pity.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karlene!
ReplyDelete(and congrats, Heather - I read about your news, but didn't have a chance to comment!!!)

Fabulous challenge, Karlene. Let's see, so many to choose from! Okay, today I will let go of the fear of not being published to make room for what ebbed away when the fear insinuated itself: unbridled, shout-out-loud joy and the thrill of confidence in writing.
ReplyDeleteThe journey's the best part of the trip (unless your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere). :D
ReplyDeleteHeather, You are throwing those fears out... and I'm seeing nothing but great opportunity on the horizon for you.
ReplyDeleteMichael, I love it... letting go of rejections. That's excellent. There is no room for those in your future success. Thanks so much for the comment and you have a wonderful weekend too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lydia! I'm thinking doing something is a great idea. We have no time for wallowing in our lives. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Erica! I double the congrats to Heather, too.
ReplyDeleteLinda, fear is the best thing to let go of. There is no room for fear in anyone's future... only in our novels. Excellent plan.
ReplyDeleteStina, that's pretty funny. But you know, even if your car breaks down in the middle of no where... that could be the best part of the journey. If you live to tell about it. :)
